A Class M planet whose native inhabitants struggled for millenia to conquer their own childish attitudes. Earth is the only planet in the Sol system naturally capable of supporting life. Its inhabitants, the Terrans, fought three world wars before a chance encounter with the Vulcans changed their civilization and the face of the Alpha quadrant forever.
Environment[]
Earth is a Class M planet with seven continents. The surface of the planet is covered mostly by water. Although Earth's environment suffered heavy pollution during the 20th and 21st centuries, it has since been purified and is considered one of the healthiest and beautiful planets in the quadrant.
Government[]
Although Earth has been splintered into several civilizations with several different kinds of governments over its history, it is currently under one united, democratic government headed by the United Federation of Planets, with San Francisco as its capital.
Inhabitants[]
Terrans, who prefer to call themselves Humans, are the dominant and native intelligent species of Earth. Terrans are generally considered fairly weak creatures compared to the physical prowess and abilities of other inhabitants of the galaxy, but it is nearly universally agreed that Terrans' persistance, curiousity, drive to overcome their own limitations, and knack for diplomacy has resulted in their foundation of one of the most powerful organizations in the galaxy, the United Federation of Planets.
